New Book – Searching for the Light

posted in: News | 0

My first self published book.

My name is Stuart James Fraser, although, confusingly, I paint under my childhood nickname of Fraz (see my website for more info https://www.frazart.co.uk), a hangover from my early illustration days.

"This is a delightful book which highlight's Stuart's best works, illustrating a lifetime journey to capture Cumbria's landscapes. Through three sections of the book, we experience pathways into these scenes; firstly the dramatic mountains and fells especially his beloved Ullswater , then a more close-up view of Stuart's life in rural countryside village, and city, and finally an appreciation of the many diverse seascapes littered across the UK coastline .

It is this final section which held me spellbound for the longest. Stuart has a way of composing his pieces that perfectly captures the light and shade present in waves, shorelines and buildings. The eye is led into the paintings such, that one feels like a traveller moving into and beyond the scene. The sense of atmosphere is captivating.

I thoroughly recommend this book to all art-lovers, and those who hold a connection with Cumbria and Northern Britain."
