Up-coming Exhibitions
‘First Meeting 2’ sold from the Wiliamson Art Gallery during the first leg of the Exhibition’s tour. New Light Prize Exhibition judges selected the sister painting ‘First Meeting 1’ as replacement.
If you happen to be in London the exhibition will be shown at The Bankside Gallery, Southbank 26 Feb – 3 March. Those living in, or visiting, Cumbria will also be able to view the painting, along with many super artworks by various artists, when the exhibition is shown at Rheged Art Centre, Penrith 14 March – 2 June.
Studies 1, 2 & 3 – ‘River Laundry. India’ Each Oil on Board 22x30cm
I will be showing 5 small oil paintings based on travels in India at Cumbria Local Arts Group Exhibition, Grasmere 29 March – 7 April 10am-5pm Daily. Each small painting is study for larger work.
I am delighted to announce that ‘The Human Connection’ solo exhibition that ran for 10 weeks at the Ruskin Museum, Coniston will be shown, with a few embellishments, at UpFront Gallery, Unthank, Penrith 29 May – 20July. The Gallery boasts an excellent vegetarian café and a permanent display of theatre puppets. It is open every day except Mondays and Tuesdays. ‘Proud Grandmother. Mongolia’ was the painting selected to promote the exhibition which, of course, included a number of paintings based on my travels in that faraway country.
Then of course there will be the Lake Artists Summer Exhibition, Grasmere, running from mid-July until early September. This is the first year I will be exhibiting as a fully elected member.
Other news.
Early January I suffered a small stroke - and very big wake-up call! It occurred on the R side of my brain affecting the L side of my body. Various exercises plus regularly drawing with my left hand is helping my recovery. I have dedicated an A4 sketchbook to the process, making 15 min(ish) pen portraits from life of different friends, family members and neighbours who have kindly offered help.
Anyone interested is welcome to come and browse through my ‘Stroke Recovery Book’ Just email or phone so we can work out a time to suit.
Best wishes,
Joan
