The Picturing Penrith competition 2019 was a great success, despite the rain and cold wind first thing. Some were forced to take shelter while others wisely chose sheltered spots to set up their easels. By the afternoon the weather brightened and everyone seemed to have enjoyed the day. Young Ryan Rose (aged 10) managed to stay out all day to complete his painting of J & J Grahams, Market Square. Competitors this year travelled from as far as Glasgow and Liverpool to take part and there was a real buzz in the town as the Penrith Arts Festival was in full swing. There were street buskers, puppet shows, workshops, the hat parade and an impromptu swing dance performance in the town centre.
All of this years entries are now on display in the EVAN Gallery and the exhibition will run until 1pm Sunday 8th September.
Call in to the Gallery and vote for your favourite artwork. The winner of the People’s Choice vote wins £150 (sponsored by Penrith Posters).
Well done to all those who took part.
