Contemporary Cloth Exhibition 2020 – A Great Success!

posted in: News | 0

The EVAN Gallery had it's first exhibition dedicated to textiles. Housed in the EVAN Gallery in Penrith, the exhibition ran from 15th February to the 29th February 2020. EVAN has now been running for over 3 years and this was the first time the textile artists have shown together as a group, getting together to present their personal interpretation of Contemporary Cloth. The exhibition included, print-makers, bead work, tapestry, knitting, weaving felting, embroidery, tailoring and braiding. A successful part of the exhibition was a daily ‘Meet the Maker’ which was advertised on our new events web site where the public had an opportunity to meet the artists and quite often see them demonstrate their techniques and being able to have a go themselves.

The show was a great success for the group and for the Gallery. It brought people in who hadn't visited the Gallery before, some travelling some distance specifically to see the exhibition and/or the demonstrations. As a result, there is now a permanent EVAN Contemporary Cloth group under the EVAN umbrella. Although early days we have great ambitions. Watch this space...

A special thanks to the Errant Thieves for their performance on the preview evening.
